Each June, Georgia yard sale shoppers spend the weekend hunting for bargains at the Dixie Highway 90-Mile Sale. The sale spans 90 miles from Marietta to Ringgold, with 13 participating communities in all.

We want to thank all our wonderful members and volunteers that made it possible for us to participate. We found great homes for 28 animals over this past weekend. We were thankful for the opportunity to work with the other humane groups in our area and network with so many caring people.

• We provided assistance for 493 spay/neuters for cats and dogs this past year. 
• We helped place 154 animals this year through adoptions, shelter transfers, rescues and networking to place in homes.  We also helped several cat colonies with TNR.
• Many animals were kept in their homes through our efforts to help families in need.

We are very thankful for our supporters and volunteers that enable us to continue to help the families and animals of Catoosa County.

Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care received a generous grant of $1,500 from the A.S.P.C.A. (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to help low-income residents spay or neuter their pets. The mission of Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care is the humane treatment of animals, which is achieved through education, advocacy, pet adoptions, and low-cost spay/neuter programs. The prevention of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens reduces the number of animals that are left homeless or sent to shelters. According to the A.S.P.C.A., well over half of the animals that enter shelters are destroyed simply because there are no homes for them. Spaying or neutering pets helps reduce these numbers. If you think you may qualify for assistance, please call Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care at 706-937-2287. In February 20102, the A.S.P.C.A. has generously awarded us $5,000 for financial assistance with vet care to families that are in financial need. Our goal is to keep pets in their homes.
